Our Mission Statement

The General Council for Massage Therapy is the emerging Organisation for the Self-Regulation of Massage Therapy in the UK.  

The GCMT is a non-profit making body comprising the major professional associations in massage therapy with the following aims and objectives:

To promote the adoption of high standards of practice in massage therapy.  Thereby to offer the public the means of accessing treatment of high professional standard

To establish a nationwide professionally determined Standard of Training, Conduct and Competence for the protection of the public.

To act as a unifying body by bringing together organisations engaged in representing orteaching massage therapy.

And to these ends in due course;

To establish and maintain a single register of qualified massage practitioners

To examine and accredit training institutions in massage therapy.

To establish standards for continuing professional development of registered practitioners.
