Education & Training Working Group
It has been the remit of the GCMT to standardize Body
Massage/Body Works by aligning our Core Curriculum with the National
Occupational Standard (NOS).
In tandem with the setting and review of the core
curriculum, we are developing the criteria for entry onto the National
Register of Massage Practitioners when our self-regulatory body comes
into being. Accredited Prior Learning will be taken into
consideration for those practitioners who qualified prior to these
standards being put in place.
In the interim period, we are introducing the GCMT
National Register of Massage Practitioners and application to join is
open to all qualified massage practitioners currently in membership of
a GCMT member association (please refer to our News Section).
A system of Continued Professional Development is being
created which will be a requirement for the continued development of
all GCMT registered Massage Practitioners and will assist them to meet
the anticipated stringent requirements of the self-regulatory body.
GCMT are working diligently at this time developing a
forward plan to take us towards meeting and completing the necessary
requirements of becoming the recognized Regulatory Body of our
Profession. This is an exciting development and will offer an
opportunity to all Massage Therapists meeting the required standards to
become registered with the Self-Regulatory Body.
